Falling in Love…again.

Have you ever set your sight on a dream or goal?  That trip you want to take, that husband you want to marry or that dream house you want to live in, perhaps?   Maybe your sight is set on the promises of God; that promised land that He is leading you to.  It is so easy to become focused on the destination.  To keep our eyes on the proverbial prize. To attain success. But, at what cost? And, when is it enough?

God told Ephasus “‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but  have tested those  who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up  for my name’s sake, and you  have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned  the love you had at first.”  (Revelations 2)

What we do is worth nothing if it is not coming from our deep love for Jesus. So how do we fall in love with Jesus?

The following was given to me by a dear woman.  I do not do, nor even really understand, all of these ways.  However, I will post the list in entirety, so you can consider each point yourself.

10 Ways To Transform Your Future By Falling In Love With The Lord

The same steps that people to take to fall in love with each other can be used to develop a love for the Lord.  “But as it is written. Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.” (1Corinthians 2:9)

  • Report the good things He has done for you

8. Prepare for times to be with Him

  • Have your appearance the way He likes it
  • Wear clothes which He likes

9. Treasure what He gives to you

  • Appreciate the time He spends with you
  • Put his gifts in prominent places
  • Carry cherished letters from Him

10. Tell Him you are committed to Him

  • Remind Him often that you belong to Him
  • Assure Him that you will always be faithful to Him

The last act of love I might add is:

Trust Him with your future

  • Have confidence in His ability to lead you
  • Respect His authority
  • Accept his protection
  • Live in the peace and safety which come from being near Him

This song has been a good reminder to me.

The beautiful thing about falling in love with Jesus is that He will always  catch you.  “Fallen” is such an excellent description of the limitedness of the human nature compared to the abundance of God.  All humans can do is fall.  We fall from the sinless state, but are received by the grace of God.  We can fall in love with God, but only because God first loves us and makes a way.  We even fall from this love first love, but Christ restores us, and upholds us with His righteous right hand.  All we can do is fall, but He allows us to choose to fall on Him.

After falling away from their first love, the church at Ephasus was instructed to: “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.”

When I first fell in love with Jesus, I was consumed by Him.  I did not get sidetracked by thinking about where I would go or what I would do.  I was just concerned with knowing Him more.  Lord, forgive me when I fail to love you.  Instead of focusing on the prizes of this world, let me keep my eyes on Jesus, “the founder and perfecter of our faith,  who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising  the shame, and  is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12) Let everything I do result out of my love for you. <3
